Chapter 1
The Shadow in the Deep
The ocean was unusually dark that afternoon, the waves whispering secrets against the sharp rocks. Adhiyan and his mother were busy hunting for octopuses in the shallow tide pools. Adhiyan loved the way the slippery creatures felt, but today, he wanted to find something bigger. He wandered toward the edge of the deep water, where the sea turned a bruised shade of purple. Suddenly, a flash of silver caught his eye. It was a massive shape, moving with a terrifying grace that made the hair on his neck stand up.
"Look, Mom! A giant fish!" Adhiyan shouted, leaning over the slippery ledge. He didn't see the cold, black eye of the great shark watching him from the depths. Driven by a sudden, reckless curiosity, he reached his hand down toward the swirling foam. Before his mother could scream a warning, the water exploded in a spray of salty mist. The shark’s jaws snapped shut with the sound of a closing trap. Adhiyan pulled back, but the sharp teeth had already grazed his skin, leaving a stinging trail of red. The shock hit him harder than the pain. The brave explorer was gone, replaced by a terrified child who realized just how small he was compared to the monsters of the deep. He collapsed onto the wet sand, crying like a baby as his mother rushed to pull him away from the hungry shadows of the sea.
The end.
