Scary Mom
One day thier was a knife

Chapter 1
The Silver Intruder
The moon was high, the house was still,
A silver blade sat on the sill.
It caught the light with a wicked gleam,
Like a jagged piece of a broken dream.
Young Leo watched from the hallway floor,
Peeking through the kitchen door.
His mother stood there, silent and tall,
Her shadow stretched across the wall.
She picked it up with a steady hand,
The sharpest steel in all the land.
"Go back to bed," she whispered low,
"There are secrets here you do not know."

Chapter 2
Shadows in the Hall
He followed her through the creaking hall,
Where shadows danced and seemed to crawl.
She didn't walk, she seemed to glide,
With nowhere left for a boy to hide.
The knife was clutched against her chest,
A silver bird within its nest.
"Why does she carry a blade so bright,
In the middle of the lonely night?"
He thought he heard a ghostly sound,
As her heavy boots hit the wooden ground.
He tripped upon a loose floorboard,
A sound his mother surely ignored?

Chapter 3
The Garden of Stone
She stepped outside to the garden gate,
Where the heavy stones of the garden wait.
No flowers grew in this patch of dirt,
Only memories of ancient hurt.
She knelt beside a pillar of grey,
Where the mist and the shadows like to play.
Leo watched from the porch's edge,
Hiding behind a thorny hedge.
She drove the knife into the ground,
Without a word, without a sound.
The earth began to shake and heave,
A sight no person would believe.

Chapter 4
The Root of the Fear
"The fear is growing," Mom declared,
While Leo stood there, cold and scared.
"It wraps its vines around the heart,
And tears the family's peace apart."
She sliced a vine of deepest black,
And felt the garden pushing back.
It wasn't a weapon, the knife she held,
But a tool for the darkness she had to fell.
"I do this, son, to keep you safe,
From the shadows that would make you a waif."
She struggled hard against the root,
Crushing the darkness under her boot.

Chapter 5
A Mother's Burden
The work was done, the vines were dead,
"Come here, my Leo," his mother said.
He saw the sweat upon her brow,
He understood her mission now.
"You thought me scary, sharp, and cold,
Protecting you makes a mother bold."
She wiped a tear from Leo's face,
In that strange and misty place.
The knife was just a silver key,
To keep their home and spirits free.
"I'm sorry I hid the truth from you,
But some things are hard for a child to view."

Chapter 6
The Morning Light
The sun climbed up to greet the day,
And chased the lingering gloom away.
The knife was cleaned and put in its drawer,
Not a thing to be feared anymore.
Leo ate his breakfast toast,
Loving his mother more than most.
She wasn't a monster or a ghost of the night,
But a warrior fighting for what is right.
The garden was quiet, the stones were still,
No longer a place of a scary thrill.
He smiled at her, she smiled back,
No more shadows, no more black.
The end.
