The Five Star Soldiers
A person dies from his team mate

Chapter 1
The Foggy Outpost
The Five Star Soldiers were the best of the best, or so they were told. They stood in the middle of the Blackwood Forest, where the mist was so thick it felt like wet velvet against their skin. Jax, the team leader, checked his compass. "We stay together," he whispered, his voice cutting through the eerie silence. Leo, the youngest of the group, gripped his flashlight so hard his knuckles turned white. A twig snapped in the darkness, making everyone jump. "It's just the wind," Jax said, though his eyes darted nervously. They were sent here to guard the old border, but the forest felt like it was watching them back. "I don't like this place," Leo muttered, shivering in his modest wool jacket.

Chapter 2
The Shadow in the Ranks
Inside the cramped guard cabin, the air grew cold—colder than the night outside. Silas sat in the corner, sharpening a small pocketknife with a rhythmic *shick-shick* sound. He laughed softly to himself, a sound that didn't reach his cold, dark eyes. "Do you think we're actually alone out here?" Silas asked, looking directly at Jax. Jax frowned, feeling a strange prickle on the back of his neck. "We have each other, Silas. That’s all that matters." But as the lantern flickered and died for a moment, Jax felt a sudden wave of dread. The floorboards creaked under a weight that wasn't there, and for a second, Silas’s shadow seemed much larger than it should have been.

Chapter 3
The Missing Map
"It's gone!" Jax shouted, tossing papers across the room. The map of the safe zone had vanished from his locked drawer. "How could it be gone?" Leo asked, his voice trembling. The team began to look at one another with newfound suspicion. Trust was a fragile thing in the Blackwood Forest, and it was shattering fast. Silas stood by the door, his face unreadable. "Maybe someone doesn't want us to leave," Silas suggested smoothly. Jax looked at his friend Silas and felt a shiver. He wanted to believe his teammate, but the missing map meant someone was playing a very dangerous game.

Chapter 4
Betrayal in the Dark
Jax decided to scout the perimeter one last time. "I'll come with you," Silas offered quickly. They walked deep into the heart of the woods, where the trees grew so close they blocked out the stars. Jax stopped to check a trail marker. "I think I found a way out," Jax said, relief flooding his voice. He didn't hear Silas step up behind him. He didn't see the heavy iron bar until it was too late. Silas struck with a cold, silent fury. Jax fell to the mossy ground, his vision blurring. "Why?" Jax whispered, his breath hitching. Silas leaned down, his face a mask of shadows. "Five stars are too many, Jax. I prefer to be the only one."

Chapter 5
The Silent Cemetery
The next morning, the forest was deathly quiet. Silas returned to the cabin alone, claiming Jax had been taken by the "shadows" of the woods. Leo didn't believe him. He wandered out and found a clearing filled with old, nameless stone markers. There, under a weeping willow tree, he found what Silas had hidden. Leo knelt in the dirt, tears streaming down his face. "You were our leader," he sobbed quietly. He heard a footstep behind him. He knew that sound. It was the rhythmic, heavy step of Silas’s boots. Leo realized then that the horror wasn't in the forest; it was standing right behind him.

Chapter 6
The Final Star
Silas raised his hand to finish his work, but the air suddenly turned ice-cold. From the shadows of the trees, four glowing figures emerged. They weren't monsters; they were the spirits of the teammates he had betrayed, with Jax leading them. Silas backed away, his face pale with terror. "Stay away!" he shrieked, but the spirits simply stood in a circle around him, their presence a heavy weight of guilt. They didn't attack; they simply watched. Silas realized he would never leave these woods. He would be haunted by the stars he tried to put out. Leo watched as Silas ran screaming into the fog, lost forever. Leo sighed, looking at the rising sun. The Five Star Soldiers were together again, in a way, guarding the forest forever.
The end.
